Aucklander's love their nightlife, but not so much on week nights, the inner city entertainment venues usually only come alive on weekends. Bars and nightclubs are popular, with most of the frequented nightclubs being located in Karangahape Road. A lot of the clubs are free or if there is a surcharge it is often quite cheap. Some of the pubs and clubs have live local bands with others opting for the DJ scene.
Aotoa Square has plenty of evening activities in the form of cinemas and also has an Imax theatre. The
Sky City complex also draws a lot of interest due to it being home to the the cities casino as well as housing many restaurants and bars.
