| Auckland Art Gallery
There are over 12,000 works of art in the Auckland Art Gallery, with an emphasis on New Zealand works, but with plenty of international art too. This is the largest collection in the country. The Art Gallery occupies two buildings in the centre of Auckland. Up to 32 art exhibitions are highlighted through out the year and there are also cafes, a shop and an art library. Mataora
Located in Ponsonby this gallery showcases Maori art. Here you can view art work in many forms including painting, pottery, jewellery, weaving and much more. Most of the work is created by local artists. Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby.
Parnell Gallery
Exhibitions at this gallery are predominately original New Zealand art works, in many mediums. There is an impressive display of bronze sculptures and there are often exhibitions highlighting local artists and their works. 263 Parnell Road, Parnell (09 377 3133).
The Gallery Pacific
This showroom has some stunning pieces that are also available for purchase. There are south sea pearls, opals and a range of jewellery and artifacts all with New Zealand themes. 105 Queen Street (09 308 9231).
